Cameroonian Emerging Artists Drop New Single Featuring X- Maleya
A Buea based musical duo, Rythmz have released a new track titled dancia, featuring Cameroon’s prominent musical trio, X-Maleya. The audio track was officially released on Friday, January 16, 2014. The song, recorded in the ebbing hours of 2014 introduces a novelty to musical genres in Cameroon, Afro-Bikossa. Afro-Bikossa is a blend of Afro-pop and local Cameroonian genres such as Bikutsi, Njang, Makossa, Bend-skin, Assiko.
The Manager of No Hitz No Recordz Entertainment, the music label producing Rythmz, Prince Mykel Enobi posited that it was high time they rebranded music made in Cameroon.
“For a couple of years, artists from Anglophone Cameroon have been mistaken to be from Nigeria, and as such it has been difficult for them to be recognised. Entertainment is all about innovation, we thought we should go back to our roots and tap nuggets from the wisdom of those who had trod this path before us. Dancia is the end product.”
Dancia is the first track by a local artist from Anglophone Cameroon to feature X-Maleya. According to X-Maleya’s lead singer Roger Samnig, the duo have been very hardworking and it was a way of encouraging them by featuring in the hit song.
The song is the first among a score of surprises which Rythmz is reserving for her fans, who have been behind them for over 7 years now.
The three minutes seven seconds piece is a scintillating dance song, full of testimonies in which Cameroonians from every part of the country would feel represented by means of their musical genre.
The duo, Diyani Bill and Fogap Etienne, made their debut in 2010, when they released their single, entitled Honeymoon. The two are very positive that the new genre they are introducing will give a different image of music made in Cameroon.
