A new political party known as the Alliance Republicaine Camerounaise, ARC has been launched in the nation’s capital Yaounde. The new party was officially presented to the public during a press conference on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel by its Chairman, Arthur Ophée Nkili. Ophée’s party takes the number of political parties in Cameroon to 298.
“It is time for Cameroonians to decide on their destiny. We are from a new generation, we are a new generation” Ophée told reporters. According to him, his party is proposing a political scheme that matches the demands of Cameroonians.
He said transparency, integrity, the fight against corruption; good governance and democracy are some of the virtues his party seeks to promote.
“I want to construct Cameroon in the dimension of your dreams and your hopes” noted the 35-year old, Ophée.
The young politician told journalists that his party ARC has the capacity to create 500,000 industrial jobs for Cameroonians every year, if voted to power.
He accused the new deal government of President Paul Biya of breeding tribalism, discrimination and corruption amongst other social vices pulling the country behind. He regretted that “80 percent of Cameroonian diplomats are unemployed.

“Each of us knows the truth; each of us lives the truth. It is time for things to change” he stated, adding “I call on President Paul Biya, the new generation calls on you to relay the baton and prepare the transition. We want a corrupt free, transparent country”
He cited the overthrow of President Blaise Compaore in Burkina Faso recently, as an example from which President Biya should learn and step down.
During the meeting with journalists, the party hierarchy mentioned nothing about the party’s concrete plan of action and organization.
Alliance Republicaine Camerounaise, ARC was legalized on September 19, 2013 by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation. The Founder and Chairman, Arthur Ophée Nkili is a journalist by profession and had worked at RTS radio in Yaounde and CRTV FM 94, before travelling to France where he now manages a consulting firm known as Société Naxe Consulting. He was born on July 17, 1979 in Mbalmayo, Centre Region.
